The biodiversity of the Cerrado biome is unquestionable and the knowledge of the peoples of the Cerrado harbors a very wide range of cultural, ecological, historical and social knowledge that needs to be preserved in order to serve as a platform for the conservation and preservation of this biome, which has been severely devastated. over the years. This study aimed to analyze the loss of knowledge of the Cerrado peoples due to the degradation of this biome. Through an integrative, exploratory, descriptive and explanatory literature review, based on an electronic bibliographic survey in the following databases: SciELO, Bireme, LILACS, PubMed/Medline, BDTD (Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations); using as descriptors: Cerrado, Popular knowledge, Cerrado peoples, tradition. It was concluded that the knowledge of the Cerrado, present in timeless spaces and which acts as an integrative and ecocentric platform of man and environment relations, comes as well as the biome being exterminated, due to devaluation and geopolitical decision-making that does not value and protect them. Thus, there is more than a loss of knowledge, there is the extinction of “biodiversities” still little explored and known.
