PHARMACEUTICAL ATTENTION IN PROPHYLAXIS HIV PRE-EXPOSURE (PREP: A NARRATIVE REVIEW)

The Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is a pathology of the immune system, which affects many people in the world. It encompasses a large part of the planet's infections, consisting of subtypes capable of mutating. The objective of this study is to present the pathophysiology of HIV/AIDS, analyze epidemiological bulletins of the disease and clarify the importance in the practice of pharmaceutical care regarding the use of PrEP in the prevention of HIV/AIDS. This is a bibliographic, descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Bibliographic sources were identified in Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Google Scholar, books, Ministry of Health, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Science (Lilacs). Through the analysis of the results, it is noted that with the advancement of antiretroviral treatments there was a reduction in morbidity and mortality related to HIV/AIDS infection and complications with the disease. Through the studies, it is possible to verify the importance that the pharmacist has in the process of educational intervention for patients affected by this virus. Thus, providing guidelines related to the uncontrolled use of the drug, playing an important role in health promotion, protection and recovery, in addition to promoting information regarding the benefits of this recent method of preventing HIV infection.
