THE IMPORTANCE OF NUTRITION IN THE FIRST THOUSAND DAYS OF LIFE

Nutrition in the first thousand days of life is important for the newborn to have good growth, development of the nervous and immune systems. Breastfeeding is essential for the prevention of serious diseases, however, poor nutrition at the time of food introduction until the child is two years old, can bring risks of malnutrition, low weight, among other important diseases in the course of his life as an adult. This work aimed to understand the importance of a healthy life and nutrition care during the first years of a child's life. The research was a qualitative literature review of scientific articles selected from Pubmed, Scielo and VHL databases. Scientific publications carried out between 2017 and 2021 were sought, also considering previous years if they have historical or conceptual relevance. And it can be observed in the studies that the nutritionist has an important role to guide the mother in providing care, an adequate, quality food so that the newborn reaches adulthood with a healthy life.
