Aging is a degenerative process that brings changes and impacts on functional systems. However, it is possible to age healthily by practicing physical activity and eating properly. In this context, the present study aims to present the Pilates Method as an effective physical activity in the elderly. In this way, a search was carried out in virtual health-related databases: Virtual Health Library (Bireme), Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The research used the following descriptors: pilates, quality of life, seniors, elderly, sports physiotherapy. In addition, articles of the clinical trial type, published between 2012 and 2021, in English and also in Portuguese, were included. It was possible to conclude, through this literature review, that the Pilates Method can promote physical and mental health, as well as the functional capacity of the elderly population, minimizing pain and discomfort and preventing injuries.
