Endodontic surgery is a surgical procedure used when there are difficulties resulting from endodontic treatment or that cannot be solved by it, that is, when periapical lesions do not respond to conventional endodontic treatment or when retreatment is not possible. A bibliographic survey was carried out on database platforms such as Google Scholar and Virtual Health Library (BVS). The objective of the present work is to present a clinical case report of paraendodontic surgery, justified by the need for knowledge and improvement of the technique in question by dentists and especially endodontists. Analyzing the use of paraendodontic surgery, apicectomy and retrograde filling, the following descriptors were used: “paraendodontic surgery”, “retrograde filling” and “apicectomy”. The selected articles belong to the years 2005 to 2022.
