Internal root resorption is the destruction of parts of mineralized tooth structures due to the action of specialized cells, the osteoclasts, which occurs on the inner surface of the pulp cavity. The purpose of this study was to conduct a literature review on the issue of internal root resorption, analyzing its etiopathogenic aspects, as well as its clinical diagnosis and the therapeutic approaches used for its treatment. Thus, since it is a rare process with late diagnosis, it is essential that the dental professional has knowledge about internal root resorption in order to provide the best treatment and rehabilitation to the patient.
