Abstract

Cardiomyopathies are part of a heterogeneous group of diseases that primarily affect the heart muscle, preventing it from contracting partially or totally. Characterized as generators of systolic dysfunction and ventricular dilation. Thus, it generates the individual with a picture of heart failure. The aim of the present study is to carry out an epidemiological analysis of hospitalizations and their repercussions for the treatment of cardiomyopathies. This study was conducted based on an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional collection of data available in the DATASUS database from December 2014 to December 2019, evaluating the number of hospitalizations, average length of stay and mortality rate from the treatment of cardiomyopathies. In Brazil, during the analyzed period, there were 7,904 hospitalizations for the treatment of cardiomyopathies, in relation to the mortality rate, we have a total of 9.05% and in the case of average permanence, Brazil adds an average of 8.5. According to the data obtained during the present study, we can conclude that cardiomyopathies are prevalent and high morbidity diseases in the country. Due to its variety of signs and symptoms, treatment is individualized for each patient. However, in view of its complications, it is worth noting the need for a more invasive intervention, requiring hospitalization.
