TOTAL RUPTURE OF THE ANTERIOR CRUCIATE LIGAMENT IN PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYERS

Abstract

The present study aimed to approach the physiotherapist's protocols for the treatment and postoperative recovery of the total rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in professional soccer players, aiming to synthesize in a simplified way the knowledge obtained by different authors about these protocols through a literature review regarding physical therapy rehabilitation for such a situation. Thus, for the elaboration of this article, the research methodology called integrative literature review was applied through the research and selection of articles, theses, dissertations and monographs, as well as books and periodicals published in Portuguese between the years 2012 to 2022 , selected from research with descriptors related to the topic on platforms such as Google academic, Scielo, Pubmed, among others. Analytical reading and classification of data and information relevant to achieving this objective were carried out. It is concluded that different protocols can be applied in order to rehabilitate the professional soccer athlete, the definition of the ideal treatment must consider the severity of the injury, if there are other associated injuries, the limitations of the patient and the medical indications, and thus should be defined an individual and differentiated protocol for each case aiming at the best response and the resumption of the same to the sports practice in a way close to what was previously its performance or even in an even better way according to the response and new training applied during the process of rehabilitation.
