This work presents a systematic literature review on chemical dependence and its understanding of the impacts that drugs bring to the lives of individuals and society. The issue of drug addiction is very present in all layers of society, realizing that this practice has grown frighteningly over time. It brings relevant points about the naturalness with which the use of such substances came to be seen by users and the possible sense of control present in their verbal repertoire. It is very common to hear among them that users have a certain control over their use of drugs, that they use them when they want to and stop when they want to. In this way, this work is relevant for the discussion of the concept of control exercised by people, analyzing this reality in a scientific way, so that many doubts relevant to this topic can be answered. The study in question uses concepts of behavior analysis to understand “control” and its influence on the behavior of drug users, relying on qualitative research to support the organization of work, through a bibliographic review of the main theorists of the theme in question and the understanding of this theme in a behavioral view.
