Becoming a couple goes beyond a simple and magical fairy tale, as marriage is a much more complex process with challenges, changes and adaptations, permeated by the need for combinations and daily decisions that can harm the dreamed quiet in a relationship stable. The aim of this work was to investigate the correlation between marriage and anxiety symptoms, depression symptoms and stress symptoms, between two groups of couples, one group from first marriage couples and the other from couples in remarriage. The cross-sectional study was carried out in a descriptive and correlational design. 84 individuals participated in this research. The Anxiety Survey Scale (LIS-A), Stress Symptoms Scale (LIS-E) and Depression Symptoms Scale (LIS-D) were used. The data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests. The mean of anxiety symptoms, depression symptoms and stress symptoms were compatible with the sample; the correlation between symptoms and the two groups of couples was weak. The Anxiety Survey Scale (LIS-A) and the Stress Survey Scale (LIS-E) showed statistically significant differences in the variables (sex, couples who do not have children and couples who do not have children and are in second marriage).
