In the case of immature teeth, for years the option for endodontic therapy of these elements was to perform apexification and application of calcium hydroxide. However, the conduct did not allow the development and maturation of the tooth to occur naturally. In this way, a new concept was implemented, in which the formation of a blood clot inside the root canal is stimulated, aiming at a considerable reduction of symptoms when it comes to pulp infection, promoting a repair or a thickening of the walls of the canals. root canals, called regenerative endodontics. The aim of this study was to review the literature on the effectiveness of stem cells in endodontic treatment in teeth with incomplete root formation. This review is justified by considering a recent interest in more advanced techniques in endodontics, which generate greater benefits for the patient. Therefore, regenerative endodontics may be an additional therapeutic alternative for young permanent teeth with pulp involvement.
