Abstract

Nowadays, changes in diet and life habits have been a major concern for the medical community, as there has been an increase in sedentary lifestyle and inadequate diet, causing the appearance and aggravating diseases such as diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is a chronic disease caused by a deficiency in the production and/or secretion of insulin, which leads to acute symptoms and characteristic chronic complications. Its disorder involves the metabolism of glucose from fats and proteins and has consequences both when it appears quickly and when it settles slowly. The use of insulin in the elderly is shown to be efficient in controlling the disease.
