Abstract

Introduction: With regard to the existence of studies devoted to visual law and multimodality, a study that interlink both of them is pioneering and could minister to the scientific debate between jurists and linguists and to visual law users, who will have multimodality as another away of help to make legal language more accessible and understandable. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to carry out an integrative literature review in order to analyze the combination between visual law and multimodality as a form of communication for the guarantee of the access to justice.  Materials and Methods: It was carried out a search of references in Periodicals CAPES, Google Scholar in December 2021. The search allowed the identification of three papers that met the established criteria. Results: From the data analysis, it was possible to verify that there are no studies that have dedicated themselves to the objective of this paper, namely, to analyze the combination between visual law and multimodality as a way of communication for the guarantee of the access to justice, consequently, indicating a gap in the literature. Take into account that among the papers which integrated the qualitative synthesis, 70% dealt with the use of quadrinization as a way of making legal language more accessible, while 30% analyzed the social semiotic action in government advertising as well as in the production of multimodal texts with the objective of convey ideas and interpretations favorable to the project. Conclusion: Thus, it was possible to conclude that from the combination of multimodality and visual law in the writing of a legal document, it is possible to make its language more accessible to the lay citizen, therefore guaranteeing access to justice.
