MEASLES: EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF PATIENTS HOSPITALIZED IN BRAZIL FROM 2016 TO 2021

Measles is an acute febrile rash illness of highly contagious viral etiology. It is a cause of morbidity and mortality of children mainly under 5 years of age. This is an observational and cross-sectional study, based on the survey of secondary data from epidemiological bulletins made available by the Health Surveillance Department from January 2016 to December 2021 in Brazil. The objective of the present study is to make an epidemiological analysis between the number of hospitalizations performed in each age group and per year of processing and in each region. There were 2,552 hospitalizations, and the age group most affected was younger than 1 year, with a number of 1,008 hospitalizations and an increase in incidence in 2018. With the results obtained in the present study, the increasing number of cases of this disease from 2017, which is related to the drop in vaccine doses applied in this period and the migratory movement described.
