The aim is to analyze through bibliographic review the prejudice with coloproctology. The proctological examination is a deeply intimate procedure that deals with an area of the body in which prejudices, taboos and constraints prevail, and may also be related to previous traumas; however, this procedure is of paramount importance for the investigation of patients with symptoms that foresee pathologies associated with the distal colon, rectum and anus. This was a literature review, based on the search for articles published between 2013 and 2020. The databases used will be: BIREME (Virtual Health Library); LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences) and SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online).
