This article discusses the importance of playing for child development, from Vygotsky's cultural and historical point of view. This is a discussion about the playful experience with children and adults during the 2016 World Play Week and its relationship with teacher training. Contrary to today's simplistic notions of playing, Aliança pela Infância draws adults' attention to cultures, ways of being and being in the world of childhood, based on research and debates carried out by childhood specialists from different areas of knowledge: education, anthropology, medicine, psychology, physical education, among others.
