RESPIRATORY REHABILITATION PROGRAM IN THE PERSON SUBMITTED TO SURGERY

Objectives: To identify the scientific evidence produced, regarding the effectiveness of respiratory rehabilitation programs, in the pre and postoperative periods, to prevent the occurrence of postoperative pulmonary complications, as well as to identify which breathing exercises to include.Method: An exploratory investigation was carried out, whose approach was carried out, whose approach was based on bibliographic research in the B-ON, EBSCOHOST and Google Scholar databases, considering the time frame from January 2017 to December 2021, in wich the descriptors were combined with the bolean “and”. It was guided by the research question: “Are pulmonary rehabilitation programs, implemented in the pre and postoperative periods for the person undergoing surgery, effective in preventing the occurrence of postoperative pulmonary complications?”Results: From the universe of 164 articles found, 8 were selected after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Conclusion: The present investigation demonstrated the effectiveness of implementing pulmonary rehabilitation programs in the pre and postoperative periods, in reducing the occurrence of postoperative pulmonary complications.
