Background: Nurse staffing is currently one of the essential elements in nursing human resource management. When appropriate, it allows maintaining patient safety, the quality of nursing care and health gains, while allowing achieving organizational goals with quality and safety, which is only possible with the correct allocation of resources. Objective: To map the existing scientific evidence on the influence of safe appropriations on the safety of inpatient care. Methodology: Systematic literature review (SLR), conducted between December 2000 and January 2021, according to the JBI model, with analysis of articles published between 2018 and 2021 in the B-ON and Google Academic databases, using MeSH/DeCs descriptors, combined with the boolean "AND". This review was based on the question "What is the influence of human resource allocations in nursing on patient safety in inpatient units?". Results: From the universe of 14995 articles obtained, 3 were selected, after applying the inclusion criteria. Conclusion: We corroborate that the implementation of safe staffing in nursing is crucial, in order to guarantee the safety of hospitalized patients, aiming to reduce comorbidities and adverse effects, increasing health gains.
