EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONS AND NEUROPLASTICITY: IMPLICATIONS FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE IN ORGANIZATIONAL TEAMS

Contemporary organizational environments require professionals to plan, make decisions, adapt to change and work collaboratively under pressure. These abilities, known as executive functions, involve cognitive processes related mainly to the prefrontal cortex and can be modified by neuroplasticity. This article analyzes, through a qualitative bibliographic review, the relationships between executive functions, neuroplasticity and skill development in organizational teams, also examining the contributions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a possible intervention. The literature indicates that impairments in self-regulation, working memory and cognitive flexibility may contribute to interpersonal conflict, difficulty adapting, lower productivity and less effective decisions. It also indicates that continuous learning, deliberate practice, feedback and cognitive-behavioral interventions may support the development of cognitive and socioemotional repertoires. It is concluded that the neuropsychological development of professionals should be understood as a strategy for promoting mental health and organizational sustainability, without reducing complex phenomena to individual characteristics or replacing clinical care when necessary.
