This study aims to analyze the intermunicipal academic mobility of graduate students in stricto sensu programs at federal universities. It is characterized as a qualitative, exploratory study based on bibliographic and documentary research. According to Alves (1998), qualitative research seeks to understand the meanings attributed by subjects to their practices and social relationships, enabling the interpretation of phenomena that are not immediately evident. Data organization and analysis were conducted through Content Analysis, using thematic categorization as an analytical procedure. The results indicate that, in Mathematics teacher education, territorial inequalities reinforce the need to expand the regionalization of graduate programs, strengthen student retention policies, and promote a more equitable distribution of stricto sensu programs.
