This study reflects on the contribution of nursing consultations (NC) to the production of humanized care in healthcare assistance. This is a theoretical-reflective study of a qualitative nature, based on national and international scientific literature from the last ten years, with searches conducted in the SciELO, LILACS, PubMed, and Google Scholar databases. The results indicate that NC consolidates itself as a pillar of autonomy and a privileged space for establishing bonds and qualified listening. When guided by the National Humanization Policy, the consultation transcends technicism and promotes comprehensiveness. However, challenges such as work overload, precarious labor conditions, and the hegemonic biomedical model limit the full execution of this care. It is concluded that NC is a powerful device for transforming practices within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Strengthening the Systematization of Nursing Care, combined with professional appreciation, is essential for the consultation to fulfill its ethical role in producing technically excellent and humane care.
