GEOGRAPHY TEACHING IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION: A STATE-OF-THE-ART STUDY

Abstract

This article presents a state-of-the-art study on the teaching of Geography in vocational education, based on an analysis of academic works available in the CAPES Catalog of Theses and Dissertations. Covering the last five years, the state-of-the-art methodology sought to identify trends, gaps, and contributions regarding the topic. The initial search yielded 289 titles, four of which were selected for analysis. The results reveal the growing relevance of Geography in vocational and technological education, highlighting its importance and contribution to training professionals with a critical and contextualized view of socio-spatial relations. This approach balances labor market demands with holistic education; indeed, when grounded in the principles of omnilateral education, the teaching of Geography is fundamental to forming professionals capable of understanding and intervening in complex contemporary realities.
