USE OF MEDIA RESOURCES IN CONTEMPORARY EDUCATION

Abstract

Media resources have profoundly transformed contemporary pedagogical practices, expanding the possibilities of mediation between knowledge and students. This article aims to analyze, based on recent scientific literature, the role of media resources in contemporary education, considering their contributions, challenges, and perspectives for teacher training and meaningful learning. A qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach was adopted, through a narrative bibliographic review of publications indexed in SciELO, ERIC, and Google Scholar databases, from 2021 to 2026. The results reveal that podcasts, videos, educational platforms, and social networks, when integrated with active methodologies, enhance student engagement and the development of 21st-century competencies. Significant gaps were identified, however, in initial and continuing teacher education for the pedagogical use of media, as well as inequalities in access to digital infrastructure. It is concluded that the effective integration of media resources in education requires consistent public policies, qualified teacher training, and attention to digital inclusion, lest existing inequities in the educational system be further amplified.
