Abstract

Breast cancer constitutes a significant public health problem, being the most common malignant neoplasm among women in Brazil, excluding non-melanoma skin tumors, which reinforces the importance of prevention and early diagnosis strategies. In this context, Primary Health Care (PHC) and the work of Community Health Agents (CHAs) are crucial for promoting health and guiding the population. This study aims to report the experience of a discussion group held in the municipality of Miguel Pereira, promoted by the Municipal Health Department in partnership with the extension project "Much More Than Pink October," developed by medical students from the University of Vassouras. This is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, with a qualitative approach, involving 47 participants, including CHAs and municipal management professionals. The activity was conducted in a participatory manner, with a dialogued presentation on breast cancer, followed by an open discussion to clarify doubts and share experiences. As a result, high engagement, increased knowledge, identification of recurring doubts, and deconstruction of myths were observed. The exchange of experiences strengthened the role of Community Health Agents (CHAs) as multipliers of information. It is concluded that the initiative contributed to improving the quality of care in Primary Health Care, the continuing education of professionals, and the academic training of students, reinforcing university extension as a tool for integrating teaching, service, and the community.
