EVALUATION OF DENGUE CONTROL STRATEGIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MISSAL, PARANÁ: CHALLENGES AND RESULTS OF ACTIONS DEVELOPED IN 2021

Abstract

This article evaluated the effectiveness of dengue control actions carried out by environmental surveillance and endemic disease agents in Missal, Paraná, during 2021. The research used a descriptive, documentary and retrospective approach, based on state entomological reports, local records on the Rapid Survey of Indices for Aedes aegypti, news on educational actions and institutional materials related to community mobilization. The results indicated that the municipality remained in an alert condition, with a Premises Infestation Index of 2.2 percent in January, 2.5 percent in April and 1.2 percent in September, in addition to an epidemic record in the first semester. The actions identified included visits by endemic disease agents, surveys, awareness campaigns, verbal guidance, leaflet distribution and school mobilization. It is concluded that the strategies showed partial effectiveness, since they contributed to reducing the index disclosed in the second semester, but did not reach the satisfactory range below 1 percent, requiring continuity, territorial planning and systematic evaluation.
