LOGISTICAL CHALLENGES FOR PUBLIC SECURITY IN THE AMAZON: THE IMPORTANCE OF PUBLIC POLICIES IN FIGHTING TRANSNATIONAL CRIMINALITY

Abstract

The Amazon faces structural logistical challenges that compromise the effectiveness of public security policies in combating transnational crime. The vast territory, precarious road infrastructure and limited communication networks create significant operational obstacles for security forces, increasing operating costs exponentially. In this context, organized criminal groups exploit state fragility to consolidate integrated illicit structures, which converge drug trafficking, environmental crimes and asset laundering. This article examines how the suffocation of criminal logistics, through strategic public interdiction policies, permanent river bases and technological integration, constitutes a viable path to effectively confront transnational crime. The analysis points out that international cooperation, shared intelligence platforms and an approach based on operational logistics are fundamental to overcoming geographic limitations and strengthening the state presence in the region.
