Abstract

The use of alcohol and other drugs represents an important public health issue, requiring care strategies that go beyond exclusively biomedical approaches and consider the social, emotional, and subjective dimensions of individuals. In this context, the Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and Drugs (CAPS AD) stands out as one of the main services within the Psychosocial Care Network, developing actions aimed at comprehensive and humanized care for users. This study aimed to analyze humanized practices developed in CAPS AD services for the care of alcohol and other drug users. This is an integrative literature review with a descriptive nature and qualitative approach. The search was conducted in the LILACS, MEDLINE, and BDENF databases through the Virtual Health Library, using descriptors related to humanization of care, nursing, CAPS AD, and substance-related disorders. Studies published between 2010 and 2025, available in full text and directly related to the topic, were included. Ten articles composed the final sample. The results enabled the identification of five thematic categories: welcoming and therapeutic bonding; user participation in care planning; care in freedom and Harm Reduction; family and support networks; and challenges to the consolidation of humanized practices. It was concluded that humanized practices developed in CAPS AD services contribute to strengthening therapeutic bonds, autonomy, and treatment adherence, although challenges related to service organization and the consolidation of psychosocial care still remain.
