THE ROLE OF NURSES IN MENTAL HEALTH MATRIX SUPPORT WITHIN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE

Matrix support presents itself as a new model for organizing mental health care, proposing an interdisciplinary strategy that seeks to improve the quality of care provided, new work processes, and the integration of different teams and specialties for care. Therefore, the general objective was to understand how nurses act in the matrix support process in mental health within primary health care, and specifically, to highlight how matrix support in mental health is structured and organized in Primary Health Care, to point out the role of the nurse in matrix support in mental health within Primary Health Care, and to describe the main difficulties faced in this context. This research is an integrative literature review. Searches were conducted in the Capes Journals and Virtual Health Library databases, and through the Virtual Health Library, the Medical Literature Analysis and Journal System Online and Nursing Database databases were selected. The inclusion criteria were complete and free articles, available in Portuguese and English, with a direct and satisfactory approach to the study's objectives. After applying the criteria, 10 articles were included in the review. It was possible to understand that matrix support in mental health is characterized as an important strategy for organizing care in Primary Health Care, by promoting integration between the Psychosocial Care Center and the Family Health Strategy teams, favoring the sharing of knowledge and responsibilities between the teams.
