CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT THE FEMALE ROLE IN A CHANGING SOCIETY

Abstract

This article sought to present, through brief historical excerpts and women’s narratives, the arduous path women have followed in order to gain space and recognition in a constantly changing society. The study aimed to discuss the strengthening of the female role in different social segments, highlighting challenges related to gender inequality, prejudice, and the devaluation of women’s choices. The methodology employed was based on bibliographical research, engaging with authors who address the theme, as well as on the analysis of narratives from women belonging to different social contexts, whose reports reveal real experiences concerning the multiple roles performed in everyday life. The female discourses presented in this work demonstrate strength, resistance, and the capacity to overcome social and professional demands, breaking with historically pre-established behaviors. The results indicate that women no longer accept having their decision-making power diminished in the different spaces they occupy in society. It is concluded that, despite the important achievements accomplished over the years, there are still challenges to be faced in order to ensure equality, respect, and appreciation of women, indicating that women’s struggle must continue.
