MULTIDISCIPLINARY CARE IS THE CONTRIBUTION OF PHYSIOTHERAPY TO HUMANIZED TREATMENT IN NEONATAL AND PEDIATRIC CARE UNITS

Abstract

Introduction: Care in Neonatal Intermediate Care Units (NICUs) and Pediatric Medical Clinics (PMCs) is characterized by the complexity of care and the vulnerability of both the patient and their family. In this scenario, humanization becomes a fundamental strategy, acting to reduce emotional and physiological impacts, as well as favoring the child's overall development. The integration of the multidisciplinary team is essential to ensure more complete and specialized care, with physiotherapy being a crucial pillar in this process. Objective: To analyze the multidisciplinary contribution and the contribution of physiotherapy to humanized treatment in neonatal and pediatric care units. Method: This was a descriptive, quantitative field research study conducted with healthcare professionals working in Neonatal Intermediate Care Units (NICUs) and Pediatric Medical Clinics. Data collection was carried out through the application of an online questionnaire available on the Google Forms platform. Results and Discussion: The results showed that humanized practices have been significantly incorporated into neonatal and pediatric care, positively impacting the reduction of stress and discomfort during hospitalization. Physiotherapy stood out in clinical stability and neurofunctional development, while the multidisciplinary team favored more integrated and humanized care. Conclusion: Multidisciplinary action associated with physiotherapy represents an essential component for the consolidation of humanized practices, contributing positively to the clinical, emotional, and functional outcomes of patients and their families.
