Abstract

The aim of this article was to analyze the periodontal impacts associated with the use of ceramic veneers through a comprehensive review of the scientific literature. The study sought to understand how technical and biological factors related to planning, tooth preparation, marginal adaptation, and the emergence profile of veneers can influence periodontal health. The research evaluated studies published between 2015 and 2025, finding that ceramic veneers, when correctly indicated and performed, exhibit good biocompatibility and contribute to the maintenance of gingival health. However, clinical execution errors, such as overcontouring of the restoration, inadequate cementation, and invasion of the biological space, can promote gingival inflammation, biofilm accumulation, and periodontal changes. The study also highlights the importance of integration between dentistry and periodontics, as well as the need for careful planning and continuous clinical follow-up to ensure a balance between aesthetics, function, and periodontal health.
