Domestic violence against women constitutes a serious public health issue, with physical, psychological, and social repercussions. In this context, nursing plays a fundamental role in the identification and care of victims within Primary Health Care settings. This study aimed to analyze, through scientific evidence, the role of nursing in cases of domestic violence, as well as to identify the challenges faced by healthcare professionals. This is an integrative literature review guided by the following challenges faced by healthcare professionals. This is an integrative literature review guided by the following research question: what is the role of nursing in cases of domestic violence within the scope of Primary Health Care? The search was conducted in the LILACS and BDENF databases, considering articles published over the last ten years. The sample consisted of 10 studies, predominantly Brazilian and qualitative in approach. The findings revealed that nursing care is provided through welcoming practices, qualified listening, strengthening of professional-patient bonds, referral of victims, and multidisciplinary collaboration. However, several challenges were identified, including insufficient professional training, work overload, and weaknesses within the healthcare network. It is concluded that, although nursing plays a strategic role, significant challenges remain, highlighting the need for investment in professional qualification and the strengthening of public policies in order to ensure comprehensive and humanized care.
