Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a pathology characterized by the obstruction of blood flow to the heart muscle, resulting in ischemic tissue damage and a high global morbidity and mortality rate, being strongly associated with modifiable risk factors such as arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, and smoking. Given the epidemiological relevance of this condition, the main objective was to study is to examine and analyze the epidemiological profile of patients residing in the city of Cascavel, PR, who died as a result of AMI, covering the period from January 2015 to December 2024. To this end, basic research with a quantitative approach and an exploratory descriptive character was conducted, using public domain documentary data extracted from the Hospital Information System of the Unified Health System (SIH/SUS), available on the DATASUS platform, classified according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10: I21). The sample included all death records in the region during the stipulated period, and the variables were stratified according to sex, age group, race/color, place of death, and the proportion of the number of deaths in relation to hospitalizations. The descriptive analysis of the data revealed the occurrence of 1,062 deaths in the studied decade. Thus, the integrated analysis reinforces the need to expand public health discussions and strategies focused on the strict control of comorbidities and continuous prevention to mitigate the impacts of this pathology.
