Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic pathology with high prevalence and significant impact on public health, characterized by persistent hyperglycemia resulting from deficiencies in insulin secretion or action. The objective of this study was to investigate the epidemiological profile of DM care records in Primary Health Care in the municipalities of Petrolina (PE) and Juazeiro (BA), from 2020 to 2025, analyzing the variables of sex and age group. This is a descriptive, time-series epidemiological study with a quantitative approach, based on secondary data from the Health Information System for Primary Care (SISAB). A total of 96,970 care records were analyzed, with the majority registered in Petrolina (61.7%). Type 2 DM (ICD E11) was the most prevalent, with 68,610 records (70.7%), followed by type 1 (ICD E10), with 22,458 (23.2%), and unspecified type (ICD E14), with 5,902 (6.1%). A progressive growth in the volume of care was observed over the period in both locations. There was a predominance of the female sex (67.1%) and a higher concentration of cases in the age groups of 60 years or older (50.1%) and 19 to 59 years (45.3%). It is concluded that DM imposes a high care burden in the region, with a growth trend, highlighting the urgency of effective strategies in Primary Care focused on glycemic control and the prevention of complications.
