EDUCATION IN THE DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT: ADVANTAGES, BENEFITS AND RISKS OF TECHNOLOGIES IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE EDUCATIONAL MODEL

Abstract

The advancement of digital technologies has significantly transformed the educational field, expanding teaching and learning possibilities and contributing to the development of new educational models mediated by technological resources. In this context, the present study addressed the advantages, benefits, and risks of the digital environment for education. The research was guided by the following problem: what are the main advantages, benefits, and risks of the digital environment for the contemporary educational model? Based on this issue, the general objective was to analyze the advantages, benefits, and risks of the digital environment for the development of the contemporary educational model. To achieve this objective, a bibliographic research methodology was adopted, based on the analysis and interpretation of previously published scientific works addressing the relationship between digital technologies and education. In the development of the study, the transformations caused by the integration of digital technologies in the educational context were discussed, highlighting the contributions of the digital environment to expanding access to knowledge, developing more interactive and collaborative pedagogical practices, and diversifying teaching and learning strategies. In addition, challenges and risks associated with the use of digital technologies were also analyzed, including issues related to inequality in access to technologies, the need for teacher training for the appropriate pedagogical use of these tools, and ethical aspects related to the use of digital information. In the final considerations, it was found that the digital environment provides important contributions to the educational process while also requiring reflections and care regarding digital inclusion, teacher training, and the responsible use of technologies in education.
