The city of Manaus, known worldwide as the Paris of the Tropics, found itself covered in smoke in 2023, caused by fires started by potential environmental criminals. The article aims to discuss the fires that have occurred in the city of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, considering that these have caused air pollution in the city and possibly harmed the health and well-being of its residents, which becomes a problem to be researched, since it affects everyone. The method used to construct this text is the combination of dialectics with the metaepistemology of contexts, considering that this combination directs us to employ with scientific rigor, both the qualitative, quantitative or mixed approach. Our conclusion is that the Public Power, together with environmental protection agencies, has failed in the action to combat deforestation in the Amazon and eventually, this failure has affected the health and well-being of the residents of the city of Manaus. Our perspective is that, with this article, other research in the field can be carried out in order to contribute to the idea of preserving the Amazon in its entirety.
