The role of nurses in pre-hospital care for trauma victims is a critical component in emergency services, given the need for rapid, safe, and evidence-based interventions. This study aimed to describe the nurse’s performance in this context. It is an integrative literature review with a qualitative approach, conducted in the SciELO, LILACS, and PubMed databases, including studies published between 2020 and 2025. Articles addressing the role of nurses in pre-hospital emergency settings were included. The findings showed that nurses perform clinical, managerial, and educational functions, and that care guided by established protocols is essential to improve clinical and situational outcomes. Effective communication within the multidisciplinary team and the availability of adequate infrastructure were also highlighted as key factors for ensuring safe care. Furthermore, continuous training and the use of realistic simulation were identified as important strategies for professional development and decision-making. It is concluded that qualified nursing practice in pre-hospital care, associated with protocol-based interventions, significantly contributes to reducing complications, increasing survival rates, and improving the clinical condition of trauma patients.
