The therapeutic relationship has been widely recognized as one of the main drivers of change in the psychotherapeutic process, regardless of the theoretical approach adopted. This is a qualitative theoretical review based on the analysis of classic and contemporary authors in clinical psychology. In total, 32 studies were selected and analyzed, allowing the findings to be organized into thematic axes related to the emotional, cognitive, and relational dimensions of clinical practice. The results show that the therapeutic bond acts as a central element in the change process, favoring emotional regulation, the re-signification of experiences, and the construction of new meanings. Furthermore, its function as a space for acceptance and subjective validation is highlighted, regardless of the theoretical approach adopted. It is concluded that the therapeutic relationship constitutes an active and essential component of psychotherapy, contributing significantly to the effectiveness of clinical interventions.
