Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease with high prevalence and significant impact on public health, being associated with complications that frequently result in hospitalizations. This study aimed to analyze the temporal evolution and regional distribution of hospitalizations due to diabetes in Brazil between 2015 and 2024, in order to identify trends and inequalities. This is a quantitative, descriptive, and retrospective study based on secondary data from the DATASUS Hospital Information System. The results showed that, in 2024, more than 80,000 hospitalizations were recorded, with a higher concentration in the Southeast and Northeast regions. The temporal analysis indicated a gradual reduction in hospitalizations between 2015 and 2019, followed by stability and a subsequent increase from 2020 onward, mainly influenced by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the monitoring of chronic patients. It was also observed that socioeconomic factors, regional inequalities, and limitations in access to healthcare directly influence the occurrence of these hospitalizations. It is concluded that diabetes continues to represent an important challenge for the Brazilian healthcare system, making it essential to strengthen primary care, expand access to health services, and implement prevention and control strategies aimed at reducing complications and avoidable hospitalizations.
