The objective of this experience report was to evaluate the administrative management of a Basic Health Unit through SWOT analysis during the curricular supervision internship of the Nursing course. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, carried out through systematic observation of the administrative and care routine of the unit, with recording in a field diary. The data were analyzed using the SWOT matrix. Strengths identified included the commitment of the multidisciplinary team, the link with the community, and the leading role of nursing in the organization of care. Weaknesses were related to insufficient material resources, weaknesses in inventory management, work overload, and limitations in computerization processes. Opportunities include continuing health education, partnerships with educational institutions, and support for municipal management. Threats included underfunding of Primary Care, high population demand, staff turnover, and instability of public policies. It is concluded that SWOT Analysis is an accessible and effective tool for situational diagnosis and planning improvements in the management of Basic Health Units, reinforcing the strategic role of nurses in Primary Care.
