Acute or chronic renal failure in critically ill patients frequently requires hemodialysis, a highly complex procedure demanding specialized nursing care. This study aimed to analyze nursing care for hemodialysis patients in the adult ICU, identifying practices, challenges, and impacts on clinical evolution. An integrative literature review was conducted using national and international databases, including publications from 2024 to 2026. Twenty-two studies were selected that addressed topics such as care planning, monitoring, complication management, and care protocols. The results showed that nursing plays a central role in patient safety, with interventions that directly influence treatment effectiveness and the reduction of complications. However, gaps were identified regarding the standardization of protocols and the ongoing training of the team. It is concluded that nursing care should be based on scientific evidence, focusing on comprehensive care and the implementation of strategies that guarantee the quality of care for critically ill patients undergoing hemodialysis.
