Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) is one of the main conditions impacting healthcare systems, being responsible for a large number of hospitalizations and deaths worldwide. It is a serious cardiovascular manifestation with high morbidity rates, which generates high healthcare costs and a great demand for emergency services, hospitalization, and rehabilitation. In view of this, the present study aimed to analyze hospitalizations, deaths, and the mortality and fatality rates due to AMI in Brazil during the period from 2015 to 2025. This is an epidemiological study of a descriptive nature, carried out based on information collected from DATASUS. The results demonstrate a high burden of hospitalizations associated with AMI over the period, with higher occurrence among male individuals. Fluctuations in the number of hospitalizations and deaths were also observed throughout the time series, in addition to a trend of progressive reduction in the lethality rate in more recent years. Therefore, it is concluded that, despite advances in clinical management of the disease, acute myocardial infarction still represents a challenge for the Brazilian healthcare system, reinforcing the need to strengthen prevention strategies, early diagnosis, and the expansion of access to specialized services.
