Introduction: Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease that primarily affects the skin and peripheral nerves, potentially causing physical disabilities if not treated early. Brazil is one of the countries with the highest number of cases, and the Northeast region, particularly the state of Maranhão, shows a high prevalence of the disease. In the municipality of Imperatriz – MA, leprosy remains a public health challenge, and there is a gap in knowledge regarding how sociodemographic factors—such as age, sex, and educational level—affect its incidence. This study aims to fill this gap and contribute to the development of more effective public policies. Objective:To analyze the sociodemographic factors associated with the incidence of leprosy in the municipality of Imperatriz – MA, between 2021 and 2024.Materials and Methods:This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, based on secondary data from SINAN. All reported cases of leprosy in Imperatriz – MA, from 2021 to 2024, will be included. Data analysis will be performed using appropriate statistical techniques, and the study will be conducted after approval by the Ethics Committee, in accordance with current regulations.Expected Results: It is expected to identify patterns and correlations between sociodemographic factors and the incidence of leprosy, providing evidence for more effective public policies aimed at disease control and improving access to diagnosis and treatment.
