Introduction: Mood disorders represent a significant cause of psychiatric morbidity in Brazil, with high demand for hospital admissions in the SUS, particularly in regions with healthcare inequalities. Objective: To characterize the epidemiological profile of hospital admissions for mood disorders (F30-F39) in Alagoas from 2016 to 2025. Methods: Retrospective ecological, quantitative, and descriptive study based on secondary data from the SUS Hospital Information System (SIH/SUS), extracted via DATASUS TabNet. Admissions under Chapter V of ICD-10 were analyzed, focusing on F30-F39, stratified by municipality, age group, and sex. Results: In Alagoas, depressive episodes predominated (40.17%), with concentration in adults aged 30 to 49 years (50.44%), females (64.53%), and the municipalities of Maceió (69.7%) and Arapiraca (20.2%). Schizophrenia showed a high proportion (49.20%) in the state. Conclusion: The findings reveal urban centralization, female predominance, and adulthood as main patterns, reinforcing the need to strengthen primary care and psychosocial networks to reduce preventable hospitalizations and promote equity in mental health care.
