This article analyzes the implementation and impacts of community policing in the state of Amazonas, focusing on building trust between public security institutions and civil society. Given the unique geographical and social challenges of the Amazon region, such as population dispersion in riverside areas and the influence of cross-border criminal organizations, the study investigates how the philosophy of proximity can mitigate violence and promote citizenship. The research is based on a bibliographic survey and analysis of statistical data from the Brazilian Public Security Yearbook and reports from the Amazonas Public Security Secretariat (SSP-AM). The results indicate that, despite progress in reducing lethal crime rates in 2024 and 2025, the consolidation of public trust still faces structural barriers, requiring integrated strategies that consider local specificities and the appreciation of security professionals. The study concludes that the adaptation of the policing model to riverine realities and the reduction of police victimization are fundamental pillars for the effectiveness of security policies in the region.
