This scientific article aims to analyze the strategic and operational role of the Military Police of Amazonas (PMAM) in the complex and growing scenario of confronting transnational drug trafficking in the Amazon region. The Amazon, with its vast territory, dense forest, and intricate river network, has become a crucial logistical corridor for organized crime, demanding public security responses that transcend the traditional model. The research delves into the geopolitical dynamics that have transformed Amazonas into a focal point for drug trafficking, examining the PMAM's operational strategies, with emphasis on river operations and the use of police intelligence. The study addresses the implementation of river bases such as the Arpão Base and the performance of specialized units like the Special Operations Company (COE), evaluating their effectiveness in interdicting routes and seizing narcotics. Finally, the persistent logistical, technological, and human resources challenges are discussed, proposing perspectives for strengthening the PMAM's response capacity against a phenomenon of a transnational nature. The methodology employed is bibliographic and documentary research, with analysis of statistical data and the incorporation of specialized theoretical references in the field of public security and drug trafficking in the Amazon.
