This article discusses the importance of school management in building an organizational culture that promotes democratic relationships, pedagogical commitment, and collective responsibility in the production, execution, and participation in internal and, especially, external assessments such as the Basic Education Assessment System (SAEB). The main objective is to discuss the integrality of the concepts of educational management and learning in a dialogical relationship with external and internal assessments of the school institution. It begins with an understanding of what school and classroom management is and its importance in the evaluation process. The methodology developed for this qualitative work consists of bibliographic research and an analysis of the importance of management in the face of evaluative challenges – taking as an example the evaluation in Portuguese language and what is expected of students – and the articulation of ideas presented by the authors, as well as the establishment of a dialogue between the available production and the impressions and analyses of the article's author.
