The results showed that the success of special police operations using police dogs is directly related to their intrinsic characteristics, their technical and tactical training, and the establishment of a relationship between the dog and the police officer that ensures the proper preparation of this pair to face the adversities in these operations. It is concluded that the use of dogs in special police operations provides a significant improvement in the success of operations to combat crime and in assisting the population in cases of natural disasters because it offers unique advantages such as faster response to incidents, effectiveness in detecting illicit substances, explosives and weapons, and promotes a deterrent effect on potential criminal actions.
