This article analyzes the use of drones by the Military Police of Amazonas as a means to expand policing reach in rivers and border areas. The objective is to examine operational effectiveness, legal-institutional implications, and the requirements for technological and organizational integration in the Amazonian context. A qualitative, applied design was adopted, based on bibliographic and documentary research and content analysis of scientific and normative sources. The findings indicate that drones can broaden coverage, reduce response time, and enhance situational awareness, provided they are integrated into protocols, training, and maintenance logistics. The study also shows that information governance, data protection, and proportionality are key conditions for legitimacy and accountability. The results support the view that drones strengthen river and border policing when aligned with regulatory compliance and organizational arrangements that ensure effectiveness, transparency, and oversight.
