Abstract

Objective: To analyze the contributions of the American Heart Association (AHA) updates to the management of multidisciplinary care in Primary Health Care (PHC) within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS), focusing on cardiovascular quality and safety. Methods: An integrative literature review was conducted using the PubMed, SciELO, and LILACS databases, with controlled descriptors and a search for studies published between 2020 and 2026. Thirty-eight eligible references were selected for critical analysis. Results: The implementation of the "Life's Essential 8" metrics and basic life support (BLS) protocols acts as a catalyst for indicator management in PHC. The effectiveness of telemonitoring (a 25% increase in chronic disease control) and a 40% reduction in prescription errors through the clinical pharmacist's role were highlighted. However, barriers such as the "digital divide," food insecurity, and the lack of equipment (AEDs) in remote units limit the full application of the guidelines. Discussion: It was observed that the AHA provides technical excellence, while Brazilian literature offers social competence and territorialization. Multiprofessional management is essential to adapt global goals to the socioeconomic reality of the SUS (Brazilian Unified Health System), facing challenges such as institutional racism and network fragmentation. Conclusion: The convergence between international standards and primary health care practice ensures standardization and safety of care. Strengthening clinical governance and digitalization of care are fundamental paths towards equitable, safe, and humanized cardiovascular care.
